Incredible Historic Drayton Manor Farm is situated on over four acres, centered around a stately colonial home with 7 bedrooms, 4.5 baths, and over 5000 square feet of living space. 100+ year old English heritage boxwoods and box garden specimen trees accent the property along with a winding cherry tree lined driveway that transports you to a bygone era. This is the definition of peace and tranquility. This home was constructed in several phases beginning with an original log cabin in 1811, the first remodel in 1835, a footprint expansion in 1939, and living space addition and restoration in 2000. The manor home was constructed by Caleb Stabler; a farmer, postmaster, and the first President of Sandy Spring Bank. The estate includes a precious guest cottage with hardwood floors and full sized kitchen and bathroom, a Gunite pool next to a screened-in pool house which includes two full bathrooms, as well as a standalone clubhouse, nicknamed the Doghouse, finished with full bathroom, barn wood from the property and a stone front fireplace. The outbuildings on this estate evoke a feeling of summer camp in the best possible way and allow you to image what childhood fantasies could be had there. The front portico looks out to pasture fields and is flanked with grand two story white columns and a classic herringbone laid brick floor which elicit a 'Gone with the Wind' nostalgia. You can't help but imagine yourself relaxing in a rocking chair, enjoying a cold iced tea on a hot summer's day on this porch. Inside the main house, there are original chestnut wide plank woodfloors. The main level offers a formal living room with original fireplace, a casual family room with wood stove, once the Spencerville Post Office, and dining room all of which boast intricate custom Chestnut molding, cabinets, shelves, and mantels. The kitchen has been updated in recent years with wall removal to allow for the kitchen to open to the dining room as well as new kitchen floor (2024), dishwasher (2021), and brand new Quartz countertops, subway tile backsplash and range hood (all 2025). Off the kitchen is a breakfast room with a wood lined tray ceiling and large walk-in pantry. A generous screened-in porch and patio off the dining room allow for indoor/outdoor living and entertaining as well as a secondary entrance from the three car garage and parking area. Upstairs on the second level you will find five bedrooms including the primary bedroom with en suite bathroom, a walk-in cedar storage closet, spacious laundry room and two full hall bathrooms. The third level attic is fully finished with vaulted ceilings and wood beams accenting an expansive great room and includes a full bath and two separate bedroom wings. The property has had extensive improvements made in the last several years including new hot water heaters in the main house, guest cottage and doghouse, new roofs on the pool house, doghouse and three seasons room of the main house as well as new gutters on the main house, doghouse, and pool house. The main house electric and plumbing have been updated along with the addition of two new heat pumps installed and a new chimney flue. An invisible dog fence was installed around the property perimeter in 2021, the guest cottage rear deck was replaced and mini split heat pump was installed that same year. The Drayton Farm Historic Estate is an evolving story. From the manor homes construction in 1835 from the original log house, to an accomplished thoroughbred horse farm and gathering spot for prominent community leaders over the years, to today and whatever dreams you wish to make within it's walls. This home is one to treasure with it's wonderful reminders of the past and all the promise for the future.
